We’re revealing a glimpse of the upcoming international exhibition “And the Wind Will TakeUs Away” at the Stasys Museum, which will be open to visitors starting May 10.

A hill, burial grounds, rivers, cities, fields of rye, mountains, a plain flooded with beach sand, the ocean… Greenery, greenery covered in marble gray, greenish blue, reflecting hues of yellow, green, brown, a distant lonely blue… In these winding valleys – the segments of parabolas – a powerful and compelling, all-consuming transformation is taking place. A transformation influenced by humanity. In the valleys of the parabola, ecosystem chains disintegrate. Skyscrapers rise in those valleys, houses decay and collapse, and in a chain reaction, residents, animals, and plants (e)migrate. At the root of these chains, there are battles between individuals and wars between different cultures of humanity. Yet, at the very beginning of all geopolitical disagreements lie two essential connecting elements – earth and water.

The main focus of the exhibition “And the Wind Will Take Us Away” is the synthesis of earth and water. The exhibition unfolds a broad, multidisciplinary visual and auditory map based on both scientific and artistic research, addressing topics of urgent global relevance: the centuries-long and contemporary discourse of colonialism and its profound impact on humanity; territorial security; forced migration, trauma, and historical and cultural memory; the preservation of cultural identity; the importance of scientific expeditions; ecology and climate change. This exhibition reflects not only centuries-old events that, in some ways, repeat themselves today, but also the artists’ deep concern for our future. At the same time, it invites us to pause, to listen, and to thoughtfully consider what kind of tomorrow awaits us.
