Night at the Stasys Museum: Opera, Pâté, and Musical Surprises

Stasys Museum unveils a quirky and immersive Museum Night program in Panevėžys, inviting everyone to dive into culture across the city this Saturday, May 17th.

This year’s theme — “Water and Earth” — explores culture as something both ever-changing and deeply rooted, flowing through time while anchored in values.

The night’s grand finale? At 10 PM, Stasys Museum hosts an extraordinary performance:
“Museum Night Opera.”

This unconventional operatic experience, created by renowned baritone Jonas Sakalauskas and the team at New Opera (VšĮ Naujoji opera), blends classical music, visual arts, and culinary performance. Audience members won’t just watch — they’ll sing along to iconic opera excerpts, help craft set designs on custom surfaces, and even make fresh French pâté live on the spot.

The project draws on the wildly creative Opera Pâté format by New Opera, this time with a local Panevėžys twist. Joining Sakalauskas on stage will be soprano Emilija Finagėjevaitė and the New Opera ensemble. It’s more than a performance — it’s a celebration of community, where the audience co-creates the magic. Expect unforgettable moments and lasting impressions.

For one night only, Stasys Museum will keep its doors open from 5 PM till midnight.

Starting at 8 PM, expect another delightful surprise: a musical duo featuring Saulius Petreikis and DJ Večera. Petreikis will channel the essence of Earth with folk and ethnic sounds, while DJ Večera flows like water through layers of pulsing electronic music. It’s a blend of ancient and modern — a sonic meeting of worlds.
