The Panevėžys Contemporary Art Museum Stasys Museum, together with National Prize laureate Stasys Eidrigevičius, invited the local community to the launch of the book ICON-O-STASYS. This is the museum’s first published work, offering an in-depth presentation of its debut exhibition under the same title.
The publication presents a broad and multifaceted panorama of Stasys Eidrigevičius’ creative work in chronological order. As noted by the book’s compiler, Jolanta Lebednykienė, when Stasys Museum opened its doors in May of last year, it welcomed its first visitors with the impressive exhibition ICON-O-STASYS. The show features works by Stasys Eidrigevičius — a painter, graphic artist, photographer, installation and performance artist, sculptor, scenographer, writer, and director. The exhibition includes 232 pieces from the museum’s collection and the artist’s personal archive.
The book reveals the layered creative world of the artist, conveyed through various artistic techniques. The works are grouped by genre, helping to illustrate the evolution of the artist’s vision and changing insights over time. Alongside the visual content, the book features two newly written texts by Stasys Eidrigevičius, in which he reflects thoughtfully and emotionally on his creative path and the key events that have shaped his life.
The catalogue was compiled by Jolanta Lebednykienė and designed by artist Sigutė Chlebinskaitė.
