For the first time, Panevėžys is bringing together the city’s key museums and galleries through a single cultural pass, creating a convenient route for discovering the city’s art, history and cultural heritage. From 10 July, visitors will be able to purchase the Panevėžys Art and History Pass, offering access to several of the city’s cultural institutions at a reduced price.
“This joint culture pass is an invitation to experience Panevėžys in a different way. By bringing the city’s key cultural institutions together into a single route, we hope to make it easier for both residents and visitors to discover our museums, galleries and the stories they tell. I believe this initiative will encourage people to visit cultural institutions more often, while giving visitors to Panevėžys an opportunity to explore the city’s cultural diversity and distinctive character with a single pass,” says Loreta Masiliūnienė, Mayor of Panevėžys.
The pass gives visitors access to Stasys Museum, the Prãgiedruliai Creativity Centre, three exhibitions of the Panevėžys Regional Museum, the Panevėžys Civic Art Gallery and the Photography Gallery. Pass holders can visit each participating venue once, with the pass valid until the end of the year.
The pass costs €12, while a reduced price of €6 is available to seniors, schoolchildren and students. It can be purchased at any of the participating cultural institutions.
All of the venues included in the initiative are within convenient walking distance of one another, allowing visitors to create their own cultural itinerary. The route can be explored in a single day or spread across several visits throughout the year.
“Panevėžys’ cultural spaces are very different from one another, yet together they tell a broader story of the city – from heritage and photography to contemporary art. Through the joint pass, we want to encourage visitors to go beyond a single destination and explore a wider cultural route: visit museums and galleries, discover public artworks along the way, and perhaps find another reason to return to Panevėžys,” says Vilanda Reikalienė, Head of Tourism Projects at Panevėžys NOW.
The launch of the initiative will also feature a special incentive for early visitors. The first 50 people to visit all of the cultural venues included in the pass will receive a summer-themed souvenir set created by Panevėžys’ cultural institutions. The sets can be collected at the Panevėžys Tourism Information Centre.
The route also invites visitors to explore Panevėžys’ public artworks, which add another layer to the city’s cultural landscape and connect the participating museums and galleries.
More information about the Panevėžys Art and History Pass and the accompanying challenge is available at kaipmes.lt.
The initiative will be officially presented on 10 July at 5 pm, during the Susitikime penktadienį festival. The full event programme is available here.
Visitors are also reminded that Panevėžys’ museums and galleries offer free admission on the last Sunday of every month.
