n September 17th at 6:00 PM, the Central Project Management Agency (CPVA) invites residents and visitors of Panevėžys to a free screening of a high-quality Lithuanian film. The film, “You Don’t Remind Me of Anything,” will be shown on an LED outdoor screen next to the Contemporary Art Museum, “Stasys Museum.” After the screening, the audience will have the opportunity to ask questions to the evening’s guest, the film’s director Marija Kavtaradze.
This Lithuanian film screening is organized to mark the closure of the European Economic Area financial mechanism program “Culture.” The event is facilitated by “Kino pavasaris,” which was also the organizer of the program’s “Cinema Caravan” project.
“With this film screening, we symbolically conclude a four-year journey of implementing cultural projects funded by the European Economic Area financial mechanism. This journey included 16 projects that contributed to the main mission of the program – to bring more and diverse culture to the regions, thereby improving the quality of life for all of us,” says Sandra Remeikienė, Deputy Director of CPVA.
About the Film “You Don’t Remind Me of Anything” (2023)
This is an intimate love story in which everyone will likely see a bit of themselves and spend the entire film wondering whether these relationships are possible. Contemporary dancer Elena meets sign language interpreter Dovydas. A gentle connection forms between them instantly, deepening over time as Dovydas and Elena grow closer, turning their platonic relationship into a romantic one. When Dovydas reveals he is asexual, they decide to explore their intimacy together – to find their own way of building a relationship.
The world premiere of the film took place at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival (USA), where it was already successful, winning the award for Best Direction. “Kavtaradze has crafted such a delicate love story that it instantly becomes a classic,” “a triumph of Lithuanian cinema,” “the director’s talent for revealing the nuances of relationships makes this film an important work of global cinema,” wrote film critics and audiences after the global premiere. At the 2024 national film awards “Sidabrinė gervė,” Marija Kavtaradze’s drama “You Don’t Remind Me of Anything” was nominated in twelve categories.
The Lithuanian audience is already familiar with director Marija Kavtaradze – her debut film “Summer Survivors” received much acclaim and numerous awards both in Lithuania and abroad.
