A modern cinema hall is nearing completion at the Stasys Eidrigevičius Arts Center, “Stasys Museum,” where visitors will be able to enjoy high-quality cinematography, as well as cultural, educational, and themed events. This marks another significant step in the museum’s ongoing development. The new space will open up additional opportunities for activities within the museum and will enrich the city’s public offerings with a venue tailored for contemporary visual art screenings.
The construction of the cinema hall has been completed, and technical equipment testing and system calibration are currently underway.
“This cinema hall is more than just a new space for film screenings. It is another place in Panevėžys where art, community, and meaningful content come together. I believe that “Stasys Museum” will not only enrich the city’s cultural landscape but also become a destination for those seeking quality and meaningful leisure,” said Loreta Masiliūnienė, Mayor of Panevėžys.
Approximately 120 m² cinema hall is equipped with 80 seats, 4 of which are adapted for viewers with disabilities. The seating is arranged in an amphitheater style, ensuring a clear view from every spot in the room. The cinema hall will be used not only for film screenings but also for educational activities, discussions, community gatherings, and various themed events.
The cinema hall is equipped with professional video and audio equipment that meets international technical standards. A 2D/3D video projection system with a 7-meter-wide screen and a Dolby-standard surround sound system have been installed. All equipment is centrally controlled, with several operating modes designed to accommodate different content formats.
The cinema hall is located in a volume-shaped annex (‘cube’) adjacent to the museum, and visitors will access it through an underground entrance from the museum’s cloakroom.
The project was carried out by UAB “Muzikos ekspresas”, which is also responsible for training the museum staff to operate the equipment. The total project cost is approximately 400,000 euros.
The cinema hall is expected to open to visitors in mid-summer. Further information about the opening date will be provided.
