Stasys Museum has already attracted nearly 20,000 visitors

The newest contemporary art museum in Lithuania, “Stasys Museum,” recently opened in Panevėžys and has attracted significant visitor interest, with nearly 20,000 people visiting in just one month. The museum’s first visitors included not only locals and art enthusiasts from across Lithuania but also guests from abroad. Among the visitors were high-ranking national leaders and ambassadors from foreign countries. The first exhibition at the museum, “ICON-O-STASYS,” was also visited by prominent figures, including artist Ray Bartkus, architect Algirdas Kaušpėdas, travel journalist Orijus Gasanovas, and architecture professor from New York.

The museum, which has become the cultural heart of Aukštaitija’s capital, impresses visitors with its modern architecture and spaces inspired by the works of painter, graphic artist, writer, book illustrator, and performance artist Stasys Eidrigevičius.

“Stasys Museum” has already welcomed tourists, international youth exchange students from Germany, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Spain, and Israel, as well as Lithuanians living in Australia and the United States. The museum staff is pleased that visitors from neighboring countries are also frequent. The museum is visited by numerous school groups from various cities in Lithuania and neighboring countries, including Poland and Latvia. Latvians, actively sharing their impressions on social media, have identified Panevėžys as a unique summer travel destination.

The first exhibition at the museum, “ICON-O-STASYS,” which has become a major attraction, is displayed across three floors, occupying more than 1,000 square meters. The building has four floors, and visitors can also enjoy a rooftop terrace.

The museum features an information center, café, shop, a transformable space for events and conferences, an educational area, an art storage room, a cinema hall, and an underground parking garage.

Throughout his life, S. Eidrigevičius has held over 100 international exhibitions and won more than 40 international awards. His works are part of prestigious collections worldwide, including the British Museum in London, the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris, the Museum of Arts and Crafts in Hamburg, the Museum of Design in Zurich, the National Library in Washington, the Vatican Museum, the Ginza Graphic Gallery in Tokyo, and others.

“Stasys Museum” showcases its debut exhibition “ICON-O-STASYS” and a rich collection of the artist’s works, inviting visitors from around the world to discover the beauty of contemporary art in Panevėžys.
