Today, at a ceremonial event held at the Panevėžys Culture Center, the 2024 Citizens of the Year were celebrated. Five distinguished individuals were presented with sculptures created by Juozas Lebednykas.
“Our city is what we make it – cozy, modern, ambitious, and inspiring. Today, we gather for a special occasion to honor those who, through their work and ideas, shape Panevėžys’ success. The Citizens of the Year are people whose contributions go beyond personal achievements. Their efforts define our city’s history, strengthen the community, and bring recognition to Panevėžys. Each of their initiatives is a gift not only for today but also for future generations. This evening, we say ‘thank you’ to those who create a city we can all be proud of with their talent and dedication. May their example inspire us all to reach for the highest goals and remind us that everyone can contribute to the growth of our city. Congratulations to this evening’s laureates, and I wish that your work continues to inspire others, driving Panevėžys forward as a city where living, creating, and dreaming are a joy. Thank you!” said Petras Luomanas, Acting Mayor of Panevėžys.

“Thank you to the Panevėžys Municipality, the mayor, and everyone who chose me. I always come to Panevėžys with great joy. Today, I visited the museum and spent a lot of time there. It fills my heart with song to see visitors of all ages enjoying it. This motivates me to thank you all tonight,” said S. Eidrigevičius while accepting his award.
