The impressive light and sound installation Kaita is traveling across Lithuanian cities to mark an important milestone – 20 years of Lithuania’s membership in the European Union. This period has brought numerous changes in areas such as the labor market, energy, scientific research, and more. Since 2004, more than €16 billion has been invested in Lithuania, its economy, and its people.
“EU investments have fundamentally transformed the environment and quality of life. These are not just visible changes – renovated buildings or infrastructure – but also significant processes that have improved the daily lives of every Lithuanian citizen,” emphasizes Ernesta Buckienė, Deputy Director of the Central Project Management Agency (CPVA), who is currently acting as the agency’s director.
The Kaita installation began its journey in Marijampolė on December 27, visited Visaginas, and is now arriving in Panevėžys. From January 14 to 19, visitors will be invited to observe the transformations near the recently opened Stasys Museum, whose construction was partially funded by the EU Structural and Investment Funds.
The creators of the installation, artists Oskaras Stirna and Agnė Stirnė from the spatial design agency SPACES SPACES SPACES, have combined sculpture, light, and sound into a unified experience. According to the creators, the installation aims not only to impress with visual effects but also to create a space for reflection on the positive changes shaping a brighter future. Composer Vytautas Leistrumas also contributed to the atmosphere by creating a special sound composition.
Panevėžys’ Investments – Investing in People
Panevėžys vividly illustrates how EU investments can significantly transform a city’s landscape and improve residents’ everyday lives. One of the most remarkable changes is the recently opened Stasys Museum, which has already become a cultural hub for the city. Another ambitious project is the modernization of the path leading to Berčiūnai, which will become part of the 16-kilometer-long Blue Route, integrating Pajuostė, Senvagė, and Berčiūnai.
“The Blue Route is more than just a cycling path. It is one of the key elements of the city’s sustainable mobility strategy, reflecting a modern approach to urban transportation,” highlights E. Buckienė. She points out that the development of sustainable transport infrastructure is a crucial part of Panevėžys’ 2023–2029 urban development strategy, aimed at improving residents’ health and quality of life.
After Panevėžys, the installation will travel to Anykščiai (January 21-26) and conclude its journey in Šiauliai (January 28 – February 2). The exact locations of the installation in each city can be found on the website esinvesticijos.lt.
The Kaita installation was initiated by the Public Institution Central Project Management Agency (CPVA) to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Lithuania’s membership in the European Union. The project is funded by the European Union.
