Free Dance Performance Overheated in Panevėžys

On July 6, Stasys Museum will present the contemporary dance performance Overheated. To mark Statehood Day, visitors are invited to attend the performance free of charge, with free admission to the museum throughout the day.

According to the creators of the performance, burnout has become not an exception but a defining feature of modern life. Constant rushing, information overload, competition, social expectations, and an unrelenting pace compel us to ask how we can remain true to ourselves without losing our inner balance.

This theme is explored through the language of contemporary dance by Nuepiko dancers and creators Adrian Carlo Bibiano, Marius Pinigis, and Andrius Stakelė. The performance invites audiences not only to observe but also to recognize themselves in the rhythm of today’s world.

“Every day I see people who are burned out. Sometimes I feel burned out myself. Moreover, a kind of burnout is taking place on a broader political and ecological level. Humanity is seriously unwell,” says one of the performance’s creators, Marius Pinigis.

Rather than moralizing or offering clear-cut answers, the performance encourages self-reflection and an honest dialogue with oneself.

“We constantly ask ourselves: Where am I burning? How am I burning myself out? This question shapes not only our creative process but also our values, work ethic, and relationships with one another. We hope the performance will become an opportunity for both its creators and audiences to reflect more consciously on the subject of burnout,” the creators explain.

Burnout is dedicated to anyone who has ever experienced emotional exhaustion, fatigue, or inner pressure, as well as to those who cannot remain indifferent to the “fires” affecting our society, environment, and the wider world. It is a sensitive, physical, and contemporary reflection on a person striving to stay alive in an increasingly fast-paced world.

The performance will take place on July 6 at 4:00 p.m. in the underground courtyard of Stasys Museum (Respublikos St. 40, Panevėžys). Please enter through the cube entrance in the museum courtyard. As capacity is limited, visitors are encouraged to arrive early.

On the same day, admission to Stasys Museum will be free for all visitors. The museum will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
